The Verkhovna Rada adopted three draft laws on European integration

The Verkhovna Rada adopted in the second reading three European integration draft laws aimed at unifying Ukrainian legislation in the field of nuclear energy use with EU legislation, reports the Interfax-Ukraine agency "All draft laws are included in the list of European integration draft laws, which coincides with the list of draft laws in the spheres of European and euro-atlantic integration for 2022, designated by the government as priority," - stated in the press service of the Verkhovna Rada apparatus on November 16.

In particular, the project of the Law of Ukraine "On Amendments to the Law of Ukraine "On the Use of Nuclear Energy and Radiation Safety" No 5860 provides for bringing the provisions of the law relating to the improvement of nuclear legislation to the provisions of Council Directive 2014/87/Euratom, including amendments to definitions and terms .

As stated in the message of the press service posted on the web portal of the parliament, the implementation of the provisions of the law will, in particular, contribute to: the unification of the terminology of Ukrainian legislation with the terminology of EU legislation, as well as the establishment of qualification requirements for contractors of entities that use nuclear energy Also, the document will improve the requirements for the obligations of the nuclear installation operator to take all measures to prevent accidents and mitigate their consequences in the event of their occurrence, as well as supplement the powers of the State Atomic Energy Regulatory Commission to organize a regular assessment of the legal framework in the field of nuclear energy use.

In turn, the draft law of Ukraine "On Amendments to the Law of Ukraine "On the Use of Nuclear Energy and Radiation Safety" Regarding Radiation Protection Expert" No 3869 provides for the introduction of the radiation protection expert institute, which will be engaged in consulting subjects of activity in the field of nuclear energy use, other legal entities and individuals, as well as bodies for compliance with the requirements of nuclear and radiation safety legislation.

The draft law defines the basic requirements for a person who intends to become a radiation protection expert, and determines the body that will recognize the expert's competence "The introduction of the radiation protection expert institute will contribute to increasing the effectiveness of providing radiation protection for personnel and the population," the press service noted.

Another draft law from the general package is draft law of Ukraine "On Amendments to Certain Laws of Ukraine Regarding Improvement of Permitting Activities in the Field of Nuclear Energy Use" No 6425, which regulates the issue of issuing permits in the field of nuclear energy use and ensuring radiation safety in accordance with EU law.

The implementation of the provisions of the draft law will contribute to the optimization of permitting activities in the field of the use of nuclear energy for business entities that intend to conduct activities involving the use of sources of ionizing radiation, the BP apparatus emphasized .
